Salado Fine Woodworks is an establishment of skilled wood
craftsmen dedicated to the reproduction of antique styles of furniture. The
company was founded in 1981 by a master craftsman dedicated to producing
fine-quality, solid-wood reproductions using the same excellent construction
techniques, tools, and designs that the early settlers of this country used to
produce high-quality furniture that has proven to be functional, durable, and
possesses a simple beauty of line that is still valued today.
Our craftsmen have many years of experience in selecting the best wood
available for each design, paying careful attention to the grains of the
wood to be used on the doors and front and side panels of the furniture.

Our craftsmen use proven, traditional joinery techniques.
Mortise and tenon joints were used by early furniture
makers and have proven to be the most effective method
of joining posts, tables, doors, etc. We still use this method today.

The use of bead and spline joinery in the backs of our furniture
allows for the natural shrinking and swelling of the wood
that occurs with climate changes.

Pioneer furniture makers used cut nails because of the added
strength they provided. The slight taper of the cut nail bends
down the wood fibre as the nail enters the wood creating
a strong, secure joint. The appearance of the nail on the
surface of the furniture adds to the authenticity of our
reproductions.
